Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

June 8-12, 2017

Thursday 6:00-9:00pm

Friday 11:00-5:00pm

Sat+Sun 12:00-6:00pm

Monday 11:00-5:00pm

Learn to bring Restorative Yoga into your own practice and teaching in order to bring the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) into dominance and promote healing. This 25-hour training has been developed for current yoga teachers,as well as body workers, coaches, therapists and health care professionals who work with the interplay between stress and healing. Advanced students who want to dive deeply into the study and practice of restorative yoga are also welcome.

What does it mean to be at ease in this moment?

Restorative Yoga is about moving into a state of ease and being, and away from the normal activity of the body and mind. Stress has become an expected part of our lives, and rest is the opposite of stress. Restorative Yoga creates spaciousness and a deep sense of relaxation and rejuvenation.

In this training, all categories of asana will be practiced in a completely receptive way. Props will be used to support forward bends, backbends, twists and inversions, in order to bring the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) into dominance. This is the state of being where healing happens.

During the week, Vickie Russell Bell will lead you through several full sequences of restorative poses. Following the practices, you will work with partners and small groups to set up and teach key poses, and learn how to utilize the breath and other tools to support deep relaxation. There will be lectures and discussion on the science of restorative yoga, the nervous system and stress hormones, how to build sequences, and how to bring restoratives to the practice when you have minimal props.

You will leave this training equipped with the tools needed to build a restorative practice, incorporate restorative poses into active classes and develop personal programs for private students and your own practice.

Price: $525 for early bird (through May 8, 2017), $575 after.
