Postural habits such as slouching or rounding over computers, steering wheels, and cell phones, gradually weaken the muscles of the upper back, causing compression in the front of the chest. This impedes our ability to breathe easily and to sit and stand with ease.


Doing even just a little extension (gentle back bending on a regular basis helps to counter the tendency to round forward as we age. In this yoga series, we’ll learn some simple practices to help to counter our patterns of rounding forward.


We’ll explore dynamic strengthening practices paired with gentle stretching to move toward a postural reset. We can’t change our posture overnight, but we can learn simple tools to help keep gravity at bay. As we open, we’ll breathe more deeply and employ simple exercises to help us relax and become more resilient.
