Doing even just a little extension (gentle backbending) on a regular basis helps to counter the tendency to round forward as we age. In this yoga series, we’ll learn some simple practices to help to counter our patterns of rounding forward. We'll work with shoulder & upper back mobility as well as patterns & habits in our lower body which affect posture.
We’ll explore dynamic strengthening practices paired with gentle stretching to move toward a postural reset. We can’t change our posture overnight, but we can learn simple tools to help keep gravity at bay. As we open, we’ll breathe more deeply and employ simple exercises to help us relax and become more resilient.
Yoga newcomers and yoga practitioners of all levels are welcome. Classes will focus on increasing strength, flexibility, mobility, and on decreasing stress. Each class will include simple chair poses, some floor work (we will get down onto the floor each class), breathwork and guided relaxation to support well being.
This is a 7 week series. Each class will build on the prior week’s lesson. It is recommended that you attend the livestream classes - recordings will be available if you need to miss a session, or for you to review or practice in between classes.
Full series registration only (no drop-ins)
*For PDActive members with Parkinson’s: Offered through your membership at no additional cost (please donate to PDActive)
Join live when you’re able; recordings available for 2 weeks
